VINEYARDS

Rulo Vineyards

Birch Creek Vineyard

Owners Jim and Regina Vandersloot purchased this vineyard, formerly known as the Vanessa Vineyard, from the Farley family in 2003. The vineyard is located approximately 2.5 miles directly south of the winery and we have received Chardonnay from this site since our inception in 2000. The soil composition is silt loam which was created by the back water deposits of the Missoula floods.

Clifton, Clifton Hill, Sundance and Evergreen Vineyard

Butch and Jerry Milbrandt farm vineyards in the Wahluke Slope AVA and soon to be Ancient Lakes AVA. We have Syrah holdings at Clifton and Clifton Hill and Chardonnay from the Sundance Vineyard. The Wahluke Slope terrain is that of alluvial fan (gravel and sand, minimal top soil). Our Sauvignon Blanc is grown at the Evergreen Vineyard. Ancient Lakes is a cooler site with calcareous soil. www.milbrandtvineyards.com

Kiona Estate and Ranch at the End of the Road Vineyard

Scott Williams farms these two vineyards on Red Mountain from which we receive grapes: the Syrah from Ranch at the End of the Road Vineyard and Cabernet Sauvignon from the original block planting his father planted in 1975 and 1976. Red Mountain is largely influenced by the Missoula Floods and the soil type is gravel, sand and clay in varying deposits. www.kionawine.com

River Rock Vineyard

Dana Dibble, an orchardist by trade, planted the River Rock Vineyard in early 2001. As one of the original wineries to have grapes planted in this new vineyard, we elected for Syrah and Viognier. The site is located south of Walla Walla in the old Walla Walla River bed; the soil is rocky and with great drainage. A second vineyard (yet to be named) owned and farmed by Dibble was planted to grow Syrah and Chardonnay grapes for Rulo Winery in spring of 2008. www.riverrockvineyards.com

Wallula Vineyard

In a most unlikely location, on a stretch of cliffs, bluffs, and rock outcroppings overlooking the Columbia River southeast of the Tri-Cities near the Wallula Gap, Bill and Andy Den Hoed, along with their father, planted a number of varietals at varying elevations and exposures and farm the vineyard. Controlling interest in this vineyard was recently purchased by Allen Shoup and Associates, maintaining the Den Hoed family as the vineyard management team. We receive Cabernet Sauvignon from this spectacular site. Located in the Horse Heaven AVA, soil type specific to the Wallula Vineyard is old volcanic rock deposits with scattered sand and topsoil layers across a large elevation gradient.
